A recently discovered ability to unlock the iPhone 4, called "Gevey Hardware Unlock", bypassing the software side and the search for baseband exploits in the IOS. Instead, it relies on a so-called "SIM interposer": an additional EEPROM chip is mounted on the SIM card. Then choose the international emergency phoning 112 Once a connection is established, it sets up again and turn the airplane mode on and off - and lo and behold, the iPhone is unlocked. the Gevey Unlock even works with the latest IOS baseband combining (IOS 4.3, baseband 04:10:01) Due to the legally controversial method (selecting an emergency number), the unlock method is not recommended. However, it could serve as a basis for further developments, which are also concerns.
